Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the Central Government regarding the suspension of the three contentious agricultural laws, asserting that if these laws are not repealed, the Congress party, upon forming government in 2024, will ensure their removal. Speaking in Ludhiana, Kharge criticized the government's failure to issue notification for the repeal, labeling it as a betrayal of farmers and alleging a conspiracy to undermine their interests. He applauded the farmers of Punjab for their steadfast resistance against the laws and warned of a calculated attempt to hand over agricultural control to corporate entities, emphasizing the pivotal role of the ongoing protests in safeguarding farming.

In a fervent address, Kharge highlighted the adverse impact of policies on farmers, citing the imposition of a hefty tax of Rs 25,000 per hectare, the transformation of the PM Crop Insurance Scheme into a profit scheme for private insurance companies, and the proliferation of vacant government posts disproportionately affecting marginalized communities. Asserting the need for a government aligned with constitutional principles and democratic values, Kharge criticized Prime Minister Modi's alleged favoritism towards the affluent while neglecting the welfare of the impoverished, advocating for a return to governance akin to the tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
